Rejecting the Sindh government request.

The Election Commission of Pakistan has issued orders to hold the second phase of local body elections in Hyderabad and Karachi on 15 January Sunday.

It may be recalled that the Government of Sindh had requested to postpone the 15 January elections in Karachi & Hyderabad based on various reasons.

According to the statement issued by the Election Commission Pakistan. A meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Election Commissioner Sultan Raja on Saturday in which the application of the Sindh government was reviewed.

It was decided that the elections will-be held at the scheduled time & the Sindh government should ensure foolproof measures for holding peaceful elections also Results announce tomorrow local body election in Polling Stations.


There is fear of conflict in Karachi & Hyderabad on the issue of municipal elections: Rana Sanaullah

Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has expressed deep concern over the tension on the issue of local body elections in Hyderabad and Karachi & said that there is a fear of conflict on the issue of local body elections in Karachi & Hyderabad.

He  also said that some miscreants can take advantage of the situation & during this conflict & peace situation may arise.


A small incident can lead to a major accident in Karachi & Hyderabad.

Home Minister Pakistan Rana Sanaullah says that the differences between the political parties on the holding of municipal elections on 15 January 2023 have taken an alarming situation.


Two political parties are in favor of holding local elections on 15 January  & 2 are against it.

He also said that political parties & other parties related to the election need to show understanding & defuse the atmosphere of tension.

The Election Commission & the Judiciary should take note of the seriousness of the situation. An appropriate solution should be found in the light of the Constitution and the law.


Election Commission directive to Sindh government. Law enforcement agencies to ensure local elections

The Election Commission of Pakistan has said in its order of  13 January that the provincial government of Sindh violated the law by issuing a notification on 12 January regarding not holding local elections.

It has-been said that local body elections will be held on 15 January 2023 as per the schedule in all areas of Karachi and Hyderabad.

The Commission has ordered the Chief Secretary and the IG Police to ensure a fair and transparent election along with security arrangements. While the provincial government & law enforcement agencies have also been instructed to make necessary arrangements for the elections.

The Election Commission has rejected the provincial government of Sindh request to postpone the local elections in Sindh and has directed the interior ministry to ensure the deployment of the army in the most sensitive polling stations.

The Election Commission: 

 Under the chairmanship of Chief Election Commissioner Pakistan Sikandar Sultan Raja. in its meeting today. Considered the request of the Sindh government. in which it requested not to hold municipal elections in Karachi, Hyderabad and  Dadu on 15 January 

In a statement: The Election Commission said that the request and notifications of the provincial government of Sindh were considered in the meeting. The provincial government has requested to postpone the municipal elections of Karachi division. Hyderabad and 2 tehsils of Khairpur Nathan Meher of Dadu district. Which are being held on 15 January 2023.

In this regard: the Election Commission has rejected the request of the provincial government to postpone the local body elections. Keeping in view the legal & constitutional requirements. And has ordered that the elections in Karachi Division. Hyderabad & other districts will-be held on 15 January as per the schedule.

The statement added that the Election Commission has also decided to ask the Interior Ministry to ensure the deployment of army & rangers at the most sensitive polling stations during the elections.
