PSL 7: Injury unfit national duty or any other reason why did foreign players leave PSL?
Every team in any franchise league tries to choose the best players. The top priority in this selection is to ensure that the player the team is earning by paying a large sum of money is available throughout the event but sometimes due to national duty and sometimes due to injury this wish of the franchise teams is not fulfilled.
The same thing has been seen in Pakistan Super League. Since the start of the tournament, many foreign players have returned home. Some players have informed that they have to play international cricket for their country, some have become unfit and some have had 'personal issues'.
Paul Sterling (Islamabad United)
Paul Sterling has been ruled out of the PSL due to playing for Ireland in the World Cup qualifiers.
In this PSL, the batting line of Islamabad United was strengthened by the excellent batting of both openers Paul Sterling and Alex Hales. Paul Sterling has played five PSL matches in which he has scored two half centuries.
In the first match against Zalmai, Sterling scored 57 runs with the help of seven fours and three sixes and added 112 runs for the first wicket partnership with Alex Hales. He also scored 58 runs against Quetta Gladiators with the help of three sixes and seven fours.
Alex Hales (Islamabad United)
Alex Hales also scored two half-centuries in the PSL, including an unbeaten 82 against Zalmai and 62 against the Quetta Gladiators, but abruptly decided to return, saying he was a bio-secure bubble. I feel mentally exhausted while living.
There were interesting comments on social media about Alex Hales leaving the PSL like this and most of the users said that Alex Hales has been acquired by Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL auction so why would they stop now?
This is not the first time Alex Hales has left PSL. He was part of the Karachi Kings when he returned home in the 2020 PSL. The reason given for their return was said to be that they were found to have code 19 symptoms.
Rehmanullah Garbaz (Islamabad United)
Afghanistan's Rehmanullah Garbaz is the third Islamabad United player to leave the PSL due to his inclusion in the Afghanistan squad for the ODI series against Bangladesh.
In this PSL, although Garbaz did not manage to score a single half-century in six matches, his strike rate was 180.
He hit 12 sixes in total which is the second best performance of any Islamabad United batsman after Shadab Khan's 16 sixes.
Rashid Khan (Lahore Qalandars)
Lahore Qalandars bid farewell to their world class league sniper with guard of honor.
Rashid Khan has been ruled out of the limited overs series against Bangladesh.
In PSL 7, Rashid Khan bowled brilliantly and took 13 wickets in which his performance of four wickets for 17 runs against Karachi Kings was remarkable.
Liam Livingstone (Peshawar Zalmi)
For England's Living Stone, PSL was not a success and his best score in four matches was only 24 runs while in bowling he could take only two wickets.
He is the same Living Stone who played a smoky 103-run innings against Pakistan last year at the Trent Bridge T20 International with the help of nine sixes and six fours.
Sharfin Rutherford (Peshawar Zalmi)
Rutherford of West Indies has left PSL for personal reasons.
He played nine matches in which he scored 70 not out against Islamabad United.
