At beginning of the match Lahore Qalandars lost three wickets in a row & then Harry Brooke's brilliant batting & century changed the scene & gave Qalandars a good score to win the match.

Lahore Qalandars & Islamabad United clashed in the 27th match of PSL at Qaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Saturday. Lahore Qalandars won the toss & elected to bat first against Islamabad United. Openers Fakhr Zaman & Phil Salt started the innings.


Qalandars' opening partnership was poor-for the second day in a row where Phil Salt was dismissed for just two runs. Kamran Ghulam was also hunted by Faheem Ashraf and he was shown the way to the pavilion by doing LBW without opening an account.


Qalandars Professor Muhammad Hafeez also could-not add much to the scoreboard and on the total score of 12 runs in the third over of the game was run out even today.


Qalandars had lost three wickets for 12 runs then Harry Brook came on the field in such a difficult time & with Fakhruzzaman the score forward and established a brilliant partnership of 101 runs. Fakhr Zaman scored 51 runs with the help of four fours & a six and was dismissed for a total score of 113. This time too it was Faheem who caught him on the ball of Zahir Khan.


From the other end Harry Brook continued to bat aggressively. Sohail Akhtar scored 15 off 9 balls & Azam Khan blew stumps off Dawson's ball. David Wiese also sided with Brooke and was dismissed for 17 off 12 balls with the help of a six.


Brooke also completed his century off 48 balls. Lahore Qalandars scored 197 runs for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated overs and gave a target of 198 runs to Islamabad United to win. Brooke scored an unbeaten 102 for the Lahore Qalandars, including 10 fours and five sixes.


Faheem Ashraf was the top wicket taker for United with three wickets. Harry Brook's powerful hits kept the fans interested in the match.


In pursuit of the target Rehmanullah Garbaz and Mubasir Khan gave a 27 run lead. Rehmanullah Garbaz scored 20 off 11 balls with the help of two fours and a 6 & was bowled by Shaheen Afridi. Shaheen Shah Afridi also blew the wickets of Mubasir Khan who played for 6-runs on the next ball.


Muhammad Wasim and Liam Dawson shared the 3rd wicket to take the team to 59 runs. Wasim was dismissed for just 12 off Rashid Khan's delivery. Azam Khan's innings was limited to 10 runs off 15 balls and he also fell victim to Rashid Khan.


Liam Dawson who scored 31 off 26 balls was also on the move when United's score reached 85. Asif Ali, who took over the captaincy in the absence of Shadab Khan once again failed to play a big innings and was caught by Zaman Khan for just 12-runs with t help of a four and a 6.


United's seventh wicket fell at 113 when Faheem Ashraf scored two runs and became( LBW )on the ball of Haris Rauf. On this occasion the run rate of Islamabad United was very low and Islamabad United needed 75 runs from 13 balls to win.


In the fifth over the commentators thought that United would not have a problem with the run rate but by then they had lost 58 runs for the loss of two wickets. But by the 17th over United needed a run rate of 21 to win. In the 18th over, Harris Roff did'nt allow Merchant to go beyond two runs and dropped the eighth wicket of United to put the strong team in a difficult position.

Waqas Maqsood was last batsman to be dismissed by United scoring just one run off five balls. Islamabad United scored only 131 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and Qalandars won the match by a huge margin of 66 runs due to their meticulous bowling.Danish Aziz scored 30 runs and Zahir Khan scored no runs for Islamabad United.
